I donated a kidney to my husband two years ago. So far everything is alright ,but can anyone tell me if I'll ever stop worrying about rejection issues. I feel like everything has gone too well and I worry all the time.
Hi,
I'm so happy to hear the transplant was successful and you both are doing fine.
Unfortunately the fear of rejection is always going to be there. As you know a transplant is not a cure but simply a form of treatment. While some reject immediately, others a few yrs later, some a couple decades post transplant, yet some might never reject. Our great bodies were made that way. If they fill something foreing is there (an infection as well as an organ) it fights as hard as it can to get rid of it. That's exactly what happens when rejection occurs, the body attacked and killed the organ.
Only thing I can suggest is to tell your husband to enjoy this priceless gift you have given him, and enjoy life!!!!!
