Yes, I received a PK in mid-2008 and am doing great now. Rejection meds have decreased and only have my labs done once a month now. Started off having to do labs twice a week until the right combo is found for you. Prograf did not work for me. Inform your coordinator of your activities, likies, life and they work to get you back in action as quick as possible. Follow their orders to-a-t and you will be surprised how good life can truly be.
I was in the hospital for almost three weeks. Go into this with a positive outlook and be strong and determined to conquer this...because the payoff is LIFE CHANGING !!
Here anytime, or email me directly, for info you want. I am 41, and with God, family and friends...many more years will be cherished.

Good Luck to you and may God grant you Good Health !!
Thank you David for you encouragement!!!!!!!

How wonderful to hear about your successful TX, God Bless and may your kidney and pancreas last you an eternity!!!!!!!!!

I do try to look at it as a very positive "event" I have put it in God's hands. I know when the time is right he will provide or find me the right Kidney and pancreas!

Can you tell me a little bit about post TX??
The surgeon did mention that it won't be a pretty site the first few days following surgery, with all the tubes sticking out of my body. He also said, it'll look worse than it actually is. But after a few days those tubes will be removed.
He mentioned that the NG tube will remain in my nose until I either pass gas or have a bowel movement. He said since the pancreas makes digestive juices, and we don't want to make too much "noise" in the digestive track the tube will stay in for as long as it has to.

He did mention that hospital stay is expected to be 10-13 days for a SPK.

Thank you again, and God Bless!!

Marina...You are in my prayers and those of my close friends. God will use your testimony for His Glory and to touch those in need of The Holy Spirit !!!!!!

Post TX really was not as bad as they make it out to be. Tubes are there for mainly the draining of the TX area. The bandges will be checked very often. The tube for the Pancreas drainage ( looks like a bulb ) was actually the worst b/c it starts draining a lot, then slows down so it is usually removed much later.

You will pass a little gas, but do not strain to do so !!! A bowel movement is a must !!! You would think as happy as they will be that you laid a golden egg. lol

Home care will come for a while. The site may still drain some, but the staff may insert a little gauze in the site to help stop the spills. Sounds nasty, but anybody can grab and change it when changing your bandages. I am in Mobile, AL near the coast. Keep me posted, HE WILL KEEP YOU !!!!!!
