Bob Aronson is a dear friend of mine, though we have never met face to face, we have a wonderful friendship based on trust, loyalty, and the ability to share almost anything without worrying about future confrontations, or any of that rubbish. I am…

Arizona Medicaid Patients Denied Organ Transplants

Cutting funds that causes people to die is no way to solve budget problems.  That's what Arizona did when Governor Jan Brewer signed a measure that cut organ transplant funding for 98 Medicaid patients.  This unconsciouable display of cruelty cannot be allowed to stand.  It must be reversed or before we know it the same thing will be happening in every state and you or your loved ones could be affected. Governor Brewer said the state didn't have enough money to fund the $1.4 million program but…See More

Cloned Organs In the Near Future. No Rejection, No Drugs.

(Bob Aronson, the author of this blog, received a new heart on August 21, 2007)People who need an organ transplant face two hurdles; one is the limited availability of organs and the second is the possibility that if you do get an organ your body might reject it.First let us discuss the donor issue. Since the national Organ Transplant Act of 1984 The United States has depended on the altruistic motive for obtaining organs. That means we must depend on people becoming organ donors voluntarily…See More

Facebook destroyed my organ transplant group

In mid September 2010 Facebook destroyed my group Organ Transplant Patients, Families and Friends by sending out thousands of bogus emails to my 2300 plus members.  Some got as many as 120 of the same email.  Facebook was totally unresponsive to my repeated requests to fix the problem so after about 4 days I was forced to shut down the group to stop the Facebook caused spamming. Now I have started over with a new Facebook group and a new name. ORGAN Transplantation Inititative (OTI) exists for…See More

I tried to take the survey but it is apparently closed. I did write a blog on how different cultures are affected by the organ shortage in the U.S. www.bobsnewheart.wordpress.com. I hope this is helpful to your effort. Bob Aronson

What Minorities Need to Know About Organ Donation and Transplantation www.bobsnewheart.wordpress.com

February 25, 2009In the past my posts have been very general about the need for and benefit of organ donation. Today, though, I want to be more specific and discuss how minorities are affected by organ donation and transplantation. There is some evidence to indicate a reluctance to donate by minorities is based on what they believe is unequal treatment – minorities giving up organs for rich non-minorities. The facts are clear – more members of the minority population will benefit if there is an…See More
